NIIGATA

The North Korean cargo-passenger ship Man Gyong Bong 92 is scheduled to dock at a port in Niigata Prefecture on June 9 and depart the following day, causing police and other inspection bodies to increase their vigilance.

A Niigata shipping agent formally asked the Niigata prefectural government on Friday to allow the ship to dock.

The prefectural government is expected to give its permission as early as Monday.
