Nicosia, 31 May: A political debate on the Cyprus question has heard comments from politicians and civil society representatives about the need to find a negotiated settlement but listened to different perspectives and approaches as to how to go about achieving this goal.

Two political leaders, Greek Cypriot Nikolaos Anastasiadhis, leader of the Democratic Rally (Disi), and Turkish Cypriot Serdar Denktas, leader of the Democratic Party, were the main focus of the debate, with the former advocating a resumption of the UN-led negotiations as soon as possible on the basis of a UN peace plan, and the latter saying that …
