Newly appointed minister for Presidency Kirunda Kivejinja has said his resignation from Cabinet in June 1997 was not out of guilt.

"There was an allegation against me and I resigned to pave way for a genuine inquiry," Mr Kivejinja said in an exclusive interview at his Development House office in Kampala yesterday. "I never accepted guilt.

I resigned because I wanted to set standards for public leaders that if there is an allegation against you, the best way is to leave office and provide for investigation."
