The low-molecular-weight heparin enoxaparin (Lovenox) was deemed well tolerated by expectant mothers, fetuses, and neonates as an anticoagulant during pregnancy, said Dr. Jacques Lepercq of the Hopital Saint Vincent-de-Paul, Paris, and his associates.
Out of 624 retrospectively studied pregnancies, 72 were marked by hemorrhages during pregnancy 6 of which were considered to be reasonably related to enoxaparin; only 1 of the related incidents was considered serious. At delivery, 2 out of 32 hemorrhages were considered to be reasonably related to enoxaparin, and none of the hemorrhages were considered serious.
