Four Japanese contractors bid for a package on May 22 to build a tunnel under the Saigon River to link Ho Chi Minh City's downtown with the Thu Thiem Peninsula, with bid prices ranging from VND2.2 trillion ($142.5 million) to VND2.7 trillion ($175 million).

Ohayashi Corp. offered a bid price of VND2.2 trillion ($142.5 million), Taisei Corp. VND2.23 trillion ($144.2 million), tire Kuntagai-Kajima consortium VND2.63 trillion($l70 million) and Toa Corp. VND2.7 trillion ($175 million).
