Thailand receives Bt1.5 billion installment from Global Fund.

Thailand's Ministry of Public Health yesterday signed a contract for the transfer of an initial Bt1.5 billion from the Global Fund to Fight Aids, Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria, most of which will be used to purchase anti-HIV drugs and equipment to test white blood cells in HIV patients.

Speaking after witnessing the signing of the contract in Geneva, Public Health Minister Sudarat Keyuraphan said that the first instalment of the total Bt9.6 billion fund to cover 2003- 2007 would amount to USD36.9 million, or around Bt1.568 billion, and would be used for the period 1 June 2003 to 31 May 2004.
