Two Kenya army battalions are stationed on the Kenya-Somali border in a fresh attempt to counter terrorism.

The soldiers will patrol the border, now the focus of the government's fight against terrorism, said National Security Minister Chris Murungaru.

Intelligence reports had isolated the border as a possible entry point for terrorists, Dr Murungaru said, adding that the government was determined to crack down on terrorism. [Passage omitted]
