It has now been established that Michael Nyaunu, member of Parliament (MP) for Lower Manya in the Eastern region, used his district assembly's money to buy a tractor, registered it in his name and made no accounts of the proceeds from the use of the machine to the assembly.

Nyaunu, in all the five years he engaged in such an illegal act, sourced funds from the assembly to repair and service the tractor.

The same person, who is representing his constituency in Parliament for the second consecutive time, has constructed a market in the name of the Manya Krobo district assembly (MKDA) but painted it brightly in the colours of his political party: the National Democratic congress (NDC).

Mr. Nyaunu's exposure was a result of investigations conducted by a two-man team set up at the instance of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) last year. …
