Bandspeed Inc. today announced the appointment of Walt Thirion to interim CEO of the privately held company.
Mr. Thirion has been Chairman of Bandspeed's board of directors since December 2000. Last month, Bandspeed introduced its Gypsy(tm) wireless LAN (WLAN) spatial division multiple access (SDMA) access point switch technology, which enables system administrators to deploy easy-to-manage, multi-node Wi-Fi networks that far exceed the performance capabilities of current WLAN products.
Mr. Thirion is co-founder and General Partner of JatoTech Ventures, L.P., a major Bandspeed investor. He has been actively involved with Bandspeed's technology and business development since joining the board of directors, and he will retain his position as Company Chairman, as well as his partnership at JatoTech Ventures. Mr. Thirion succeeds Michael Luther, Bandspeed's co-founder and CEO, who will remain on the board and active with the company.
