Springtime is the traditional season of rebirth and renewal, considering both religious and floral aspects.

For me the changes are earthshaking, almost unbearable, in almost every aspect of my life. Chaos theory suggests an order will evolve from within to tame the current disarray, which I eagerly await.

* In late April I'm presenting at a conference of senior women administrators in Ottawa, Canada, and covering an NCAA Title IX institute in California. On Mother's Day, I'll be in New York City for a board meeting.

* The International Headquarters of Women in Higher Education is moving to new space by May 1. Phone, fax and e-mail will remain unchanged, but our address will be 5376 Farmco Drive, Madison WI 53704. The move will take place while I'm in San Diego, so I expect to be unable to find anything at work for at least a week.

As the address implies, the new headquarters is in a building owned by the Rural Insurance Company. At first we considered using a post office box or routing the mail to my new home on Lighthouse Bay Drive. But we decided to embrace the rural identification, since our new landlord is welcoming us with newly painted walls, clean carpets, new locks and the use of a full kitchen.

* My home address of 25 years will change, when I move June 1 to a condo with access to Madison's chain of lakes for boating and a marsh for kayaking. My house is on the market, which means I must live out of a box so it's always ready to show. Routine maintenance that got ignored while the newsletter got established is finally getting attention, like painting and bathroom renovation, a new type of "homework."

* Daughter Liz separated from her job as managing editor of a San Diego magazine, and seeks her next employment opportunity. After the Title IX institute I'll help with painting and general fix-up of her home.
