MELBOURNE, Nov 1 Asia Pulse - A Melbourne supermarket has reopened following a food contamination scare being investigated by police.

Undisclosed "foreign objects" were discovered in the fresh food section of Safeway Bayswater, in the city's east, leading to a major recall of all fruit and vegetables sold there yesterday.

Police have completed an investigation and the store is re-stocking shelves in the section concerned.

Business is expected to return to normality by mid-morning.
