PRAGUE, May 1 (CTK) - About 200 anarchists, who staged a demonstration on the Vitezne namesti square in Prague 6 to mark Labour Day, were attacked by skinheads and police monitoring the event was unable to prevent the clashes.

The anarchists arrived at Vitezne namesti from Prague's Kampa island at about 3:00 p.m. Their May Day event started at noon. Before starting the march across Prague at 2:00 p.m. the organisers criticised capitalism and the state as such in their addresses to the participants. They stressed that the current system was unable to face a "deep social and environmental crisis."

"We are for a united Europe but without oppression and exploitation," read one of the slogans held by the participants.
