Infineon, the German chip maker, is threatening to shift its corporate headquarters to Switzerland if Gerhard Schroder, chancellor, and his reformist government press ahead with controversial tax reforms.
The company signalled earlier this year that it would relocate, but is understood to have ruled out both Singapore and the US as potential bases.
Ulrich Schumacher, chairman, will tell his supervisory board that the economics of moving to Switzerland are compelling. It is expected to confirm the preference on Tuesday.
