Along with attending my fifth Kentucky Derby, I plan to see Jack's Jet this weekend. I am part owner of the 3-year-old colt rehabbing an injury at the Kentucky Equine Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation Centre. Basically, it's a spa for horses. He goes swimming every day--I should be so lucky--and it's on my nickel.

After that bill is paid, any change I have left in my pocket will be spent at Churchill Downs, where I am sad to note that at recent Runs for the Roses two things were missing: Jack's Jet and my luck. The last three Derbys, I have not fared well. It has been a long drought.
