BRISBANE, May 1 Asia Pulse - Ansell Ltd (ASX:ANN) said its healthcare business - which makes latex condoms and surgical gloves - recorded strong earnings in the March quarter.
Ansell's core healthcare division lifted its earnings before interest, tax and amortisation (EBITA) in US dollars up more than 10 per cent in the March quarter, compared to the same quarter the previous year.
Ansell shares have recovered more than 17 per cent since mid-March.
Investors are also awaiting details of a flagged on-market buyback of up to 10 million or 5.3 per cent of its shares.
Ansell chief executive officer Harry Boon said the healthcare segment continued to track towards the target of double digit US dollar EBITA growth for the full year.
"Although we don't report quarterly, I can confirm that third quarter EBITA was up more than 10 per cent from the same quarter last year," Mr Boon said.
"And so far, it's looking like we'll have double digit growth in EBITA in the second half.
