THE STAR

- Malaysia International Shipping Corp Bhd (MISC) is confident its acquisition of pure crude oil tanker operator American Eagle Tankers Inc Ltd (AET) will boost its future earnings as well as expand its global presence.

- Star Publications (M) Bhd chairman Yong Ming Sang said he expected the group to perform satisfactorily in the current financial year to Dec 31, if the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak was contained and newsprint prices remained stable.

- Time dotCom Bhd will spend RM300mil this year on upgrading works to reposition itself in the fixed-line, broadband and Internet, as well as payphone services.

- Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Bhd will continue to emphasise on cash generation as it aims to redeem all its maturing bonds without having to call upon the government guarantee.

- Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Bhd, the sole distributor of and guarantor for the RM200mil Hwang-DBS Capital Guaranteed Fund I, is confident the unit trust product will be snapped up in four to six weeks.
