THE MANILA TIMES:
- Investments in the country's economic zones rose by 28 per cent during the first four months of the year, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority reports.
- It remains uncertain whether Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) would draw on the $60-million performance bond posted by Maynilad Water Services Inc.
- The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) registered a loss of P2.01 billion in 2002 compared to a net profit of P1.48 billion the previous year, it said in a report to the Securities and Exchange Commission yesterday.
- The government will discuss key economic reforms with an International Monetary Fund mission next week.
- Fifty-four consignees at the port of Manila and the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) are being investigated for smuggling, according to the Bureau of Customs (BOC).
