SURABAYA, E Java, May 1 - PT Telkomsel, a subsidiary of the Indonesian state telecommunications company PT Telkom (JSX:TLKM), will reportedly allocate Rp 5 trillion (US$555 million) this year to build 1,500 base transceiver stations (BTS) all over the country.
"The construction of so many BTS aims to provide the best transmission services to our customers," the Bisnis Indonesia daily quoted Telkomsel spokesman, Aziz Fuedi, as saying on Tuesday.
According to Aziz, out of the 1,500 BTS, some 100 will be built in East Java to add to the 400 already in operation in the province.
He pointed out that in the midst of increasing competition among cellular telephone operators, Telkomsel would continue to improve the quality of its services.
He said the keen competition was reflected among other things in the increasing varieties of attractions produced by the cellular telephone operators.
