- ASEAN leaders hammered out a common strategy to combat Sars yesterday, putting in place a series of coordinated measures to keep their borders open while ensuring that the scourge will be contained.
- Singapore shipping line Neptune Orient Lines (NOL) has sold its only profitable unit - tanker company American Eagle Tankers (AET) - to Malaysia International Shipping Corp (MISC) for more than US$1 billion (S$1.78 billion).
- The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts (Mita) yesterday said its expects to give its final ruling on a messy dispute between SingTel and StarHub over cabling access rights by the end of August.
- Keppel Corp yesterday reported a higher-than-expected first-quarter net profit of $95 million. The 15 per cent jump was led by its infrastructure and property businesses. It also said that it was on track to meet its full-year target.
- The lure of China has led many investors in Singapore and abroad to ignore the immense potential that lies in the 'forgotten country' of Vietnam.
