A 50-year-old California college instructor taking a morning swim bled to death after she was attacked by a great white shark measuring 15 to 18 feet in length. The attack occurred near Avila Beach, the Associated Press reported in August. Approximately 25 lifeguards were on the beach at the time for a regional competition.
