Bush adviser resigns over charges. (Insider Report).(Brief Article)
Richard Perle, a leading neoconservative and an influential architect of President Bush's Iraq and Middle East policy, has resigned as chairman of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board (DPB) over charges of financial conflict of interest. The Wall Street Journal reported Mr. Perle's resignation on March 28th, after stories in the New York Times and The New Yorker reported that he had violated ethics rules by using his position on the DPB for personal financial benefit. Perle reportedly stood to gain $750,000 for helping Global Crossing, the telecommunications giant that has now filed for bankruptcy.
