ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS Experience mattered little when the team finalized the pitching staff. RHP Oscar Villarreal, 21, and LHP Stephen Randolph, 28, became the first rookie pitchers in team history to make the club out of spring training. Villarreal was chosen as the No. 5 starter over RHP John Patterson, and Randolph beat out veteran Greg Swindell for the job as the second lefthander in the bullpen. Young RHPs Mike Koplove and Brat Prinz also won relief jobs. The team likes veteran IF Carlos Baerga's versatility. He's a switch hitter who can play third, second and first.
