WHEN THEY'RE ROLLING
The Jayhawks excel in transition when they can push the ball with long outlet passes, even after made baskets. They get the ball from baseline in a blink. The Nick Collison-Kirk Hinrich inside-outside combination is the nation's best. When Hinrich hits deep shots early, Collison has a little more room inside. When Keith Langford is creating baskets for himself and shooting well, it hurts teams that pay too much attention to Hinrich and Collison.
WHEN THEY'RE STRUGGLING
The Jayhawks had good matchups with Duke and Arizona because those teams like to play fast, too. When opponents are more deliberate, get back on defense and pack things in with a tight zone, Kansas is more susceptible to problems. Marquette can play a tough 2-3 zone. Kansas doesn't have great perimeter shooters other than Hinrich. A zone fortifies the lane against Collison and prevents Langford from having enough space to get to the basket. Foul trouble for Jeff Graves or Collison forces Kansas to play cautiously.
