When you think of former Islander Bob Nysttrom, his Game 6 overtime goal in the 1980 Stanley Cup final comes to mind. His signature goal against the Flyers gave the Islanders their first of four straight Cups and with it, Nystrom became a legend.
But Nystrom contributed more than that goal. He was part of a large supporting cast on a team led by superstars Mike Bossy, Bryan Trottier, Denis Potvin and Billy Smith. Nystrom, John Tonelli and Bob Bourne, among others, worked hard every night, grinding it out and making a difference along the boards and in the corners--scoring important and timely goals along the way.
