One way Naxos can deliver recordings at such sensationally low prices is for them to make use of Eastern European orchestras that work for considerably less than mainstream orchestras in the USA and Western Europe. One would think that this would at least result in less than stellar performances, but that is not the case here. The ensemble plays very impressively.
