Raisin Social claims the South African wine industry is missing out on the over-GBP5 market for branded wine in the UK and has vowed to use independents to grow this category.

The supplier believes South African wines are over-performing in the multiple grocers and said it will hit the independent sector which sells 8.8 per cent of wine in the UK with strong recognisable brands.

Raisin Social has tripled its stand space at the London International Wine & Spirits Fair in May and is now set on changing the perception that South Africa only offers good value wines for under GBP5.
