after Franz Marc 
 
   I ride a tower of blue horses 
   like a stained-glass window, 
   our haunches hard as lead crystal. 
 
   The sun shines through us onto the battlefield, 
   our veins reflecting as mountain streams 
   that the dead can bathe in. 
 
   I ride the brood mare of sapphire stallions. 
   I ride a herd of her colts right up to the front.  ...
