Without them, the show simply couldn't go on. They're the stagehands, the props people, the scenery whizzes and the walk-ons. Forget "extras"; they're "essentials."

That's what director George Loukides calls these building blocks of the theater at the Glenridge on Palmer Ranch, an active retirement community in Sarasota.

They don't need leading roles or marquees. They're just thrilled to be a part of the Glenridge Players production, which currently is "Lettice and Lovage," a comedy about two historically minded, middle-aged British women.
