I really enjoyed your call-to-action article on privacy initiatives (Have You Heard?, June). Nonremovable, active radio frequency identification (RFID) tags in everyday consumer products are an inexcusable commercial practice. Consumers deserve a choice, and companies have no legitimate business purpose for imposing this technology on consumers. Using RFID to track livestock and bulk shipments is one thing. But using RFID to track individual purchasing habits without consent would result in an unprecedented assault on our informational privacy rights. This is simply unacceptable.
