Taipei, April 7 (CNA) A total of 28,930 Taiwan students are studying at 827 U. S. universities in the 2001-2002 academic year, up by 1.3 percent from the 2000-2001 level of 28,566, according to statistics compiled by the United States-based Institute of International Education (IIE).

Some 54 percent of the total are graduate students, while 34 percent are college students. About 10 percent are studying at language schools and other educational centers, according to the IIE tallies.
