So you have a pair (or two) of new season's shoes or boots. Here are some helpful hints for looking after them so they'll last longer than just a season. By Carolyn Enting.

AFTER forking out money on good shoes it pays to look after them.

* Always wear new leather-soled shoes at least four to five times in dry conditions to begin with to seal the surface of the sole.

* Water and stain protector should be used on all shoes, especially suede surfaces, to help repel stains and water marks.

* Water marks or stains on suede can be removed by holding over the steam from a hot water …
