Both the city and county schools are downplaying the war in the schoolroom at the lower grade levels.
Oxford Elementary and Lafayette Elementary Schools are keeping the low profile of the war because of the ages of the children in their schools.
"We have not said a whole lot about it," Principal of Lafayette Elementary James Herod said. "They have enough to master without adding this to it. This doesn't make sense to some grown people, so it won't really for them either."
