SEOUL, April 1 Asia Pulse - Amid the rapid spread of the mystery pneumonia-like disease called severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in China and Hong Kong, local firms have advised their employees not to travel to affected areas, business sources said Tuesday.
Samsung Group (KSE:00830), POSCO (KSE:05490) and LG Chem. (KSE:51910) are recommending workers to cancel business trips to those regions unless it is absolutely necessary, while considering the withdrawal of employees and their families from the areas in question.
Samsung ordered staff on business trips to Hong Kong, Vietnam, Indonesia and Guangdong region in China to return Saturday.
It also provided those employees with surgical masks and urged the frequent cleaning of offices. Employees with colds or symptoms of the epidemic were allowed to stay home for the time being.
