ITALIAN insurer Societa Italiana Assicurazioni e Riassicurazioni (Siat) has recorded increased profits for 2002 and predicted the continued strength of the group's key transport division.
Genoa-based Siat, part of the Gruppo Fondiaria SAI financial holding, saw pre-tax profits jump 34% to E 3m ($3.26m) in the year to December 31, the company said. Premium income was up 6% at E 159m.
Profit growth was driven by an improved underwriting performance.
