IT IS EXHILARATING finally to see an authentic debate emerging between Australian historian Keith Windschuttle and professors Henry Reynolds and Lyndall Ryan. Historians, it seems, are just as likely to "see" the facts that support their political views, as museum directors are to create exhibits supporting theirs. Though histories may well have been written by the victors, are we going to be better off if they are written by those championing the vanquished?
