WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 27, 2003
GWSolutions (www.gw-solutions.com) recently conducted an organizational management seminar on Action Learning in Action at the GW Marvin Center. Michael Marquardt, Ed.D., professor of Human Resource Development at The George Washington University and whose book Building the Learning Organization won the 1997 Book of the Year Award from the Academy of Human Resource Development, lead the hour-long session on Action Learning.
Part of GWSolutions' Learning and Performance Strategies practice area, Action Learning is a process that involves a small group of individuals working on solving a real-time problem while simultaneously focusing on developing their own problem solving and leadership skills. Action Learning is different from other problem solving tools in that it depends more on seeking diverse points of view and less on expert opinion.
Dr. Marquardt offered, "In Action Learning, you create an environment in which questions and innovation are welcomed." He went on to further state, "Action Learning seeks perspectives rather than expertise. Fresh perspectives foster innovation whereas expert opinions may not."
