Change is a good thing
Nearly all UK companies have undergone organisational restructuring in the past two years, according to Roffey Park's fifth annual survey of UK managers. Nearly two-thirds of the companies that have undertaken change management recently believe their organisational structure is now better than before. The use of internal facilitators and consultants has helped to improve change management, however, HR is generally viewed as reactive in this area. www.roffeypark.com
Acquisition status quo
Most UK mid-cap corporate businesses will not change their acquisition strategies, despite the ongoing threat of war in Iraq, according to Grant Thornton Corporate Finance. Its survey of business owners finds that only one-quarter of respondents have recently put their acquisition strategies on hold. Pity poor IT planning
A Cranfield School of Management survey of 700 business and IT leaders has found that most UK organisations plan and evaluate IT investment poorly. One-third of respondents believe that the quality of IT investment appraisal in the UK is "poor" or "very poor", while 85% think the process is too often influenced by "personal or political aspirations". ...
