Financial performance has overtaken quality of management as the most important factor for analysts and investors when judging a company.

Over 33% of investors and 68% of analysts think the quality of corporate investor relations has improved over the past two years, despite recent corporate scandals and a fall in investor confidence, according to the Investor Relations Society and MORI poll of analysts and investors in the UK.

One-half of the respondents believe the FSA's new powers have led listed companies to provide more information.
