(From Financial Director)

John Sandland has been named FD of Midland Expressway Limited, the company responsible for design and construction of the UK's first toll motorway.

Age 52

Qualifications: CIMA 1980

Would you rather spend more time doing non-finance things? It can be quite exciting and rewarding doing other things, and I do enjoy it but I always keep my eye on the finances.

What do you like/dislike about the role of finance director? I dislike very little about the role. However, I do sometimes get frustrated when other people miss deadlines and cause unnecessary additional work for me and my people.

What accounting standard/regulation/company law would you like to see scrapped? FRS12 and FRS15 could do with some serious amending.
