Jadavpur University's English Department hosted a seminar on the relevance and the future of English studies in India last week, calling it W(h)ither English Studies? In his keynote address Professor Sukanta Chaudhuri presented a dismal picture of the plight faced by English departments in India, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
