Shortly after 11 p.m. on February 11th, Richard Jarvis was confronted by three youths in the parking lot of a condominium complex in Manchester, Connecticut. One of the teens, later identified as Pastor Guzman, 18, was armed with a sawed-off .22-caliber rifle. He and a 14-year-old juvenile (whose name was withheld by authorities due to his age) emerged from a vehicle the trio had stolen and demanded money.
When Guzman leveled the rifle at Jarvis' head, Jarvis attempted to wrest it from him. Guzman pulled the trigger, but the gun misfired.
