Shortly after midnight on January 27th, two armed men entered a home in Pasadena, Maryland, through a front door that had been left unlocked. The only person in the rented duplex at the time was a 26-year-old woman whose husband was away. (Police withheld her name due to concern for her safety.)
According to the woman, the intruders accosted her in her bedroom, demanding cash and jewelry. Fortunately, she was able to reach into a dresser drawer and grab the loaded .45-caliber handgun kept inside. She opened fire, striking one of the men several times in the upper body. The other invader fled, abandoning his wounded comrade. The woman was not harmed.
