: Having significantly secured a reasonable market share in urban India, which is second only to market leader Maruti, Hyundai Motor India (HMI) is now going after the rural market. Since rural petrol car market happens to be largely the domain of 'M800', the initiative by HMI is actually 'M800'.
The company has been entering rural markets in a phased manner and has commenced road shows in Punjab, Haryana, UP, Maharashtra, Kerala and Andhra that have a sizeable affluent rural population. HMI has been pushing mostly its B-segment offering Santro and also the Accent CRDi.
