THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, March 18. KERALA'S reputation as one of the 'must see' destinations on Earth, coupled with concerted marketing and communication efforts by the State Tourism Department have started paying off with an increasing number of domestic tourists choosing to visit the State.

With more and more Indians travelling for pleasure, some 52 lakh domestic tourists visited Kerala in 2001, while in 2002 the figure is reported to have crossed 55 lakh.

According to the Economic Review-2002 prepared by the State Planning Board, Kerala clocked a 4.52 per cent growth rate in domestic tourist arrivals in 2001. The growth rate in …
