Alkomed Engineering Services Company has been awarded the ISO 9001: 2000 certification by Bureau Veritas Quality International.
The company has won the quality standards recognition from the British awarding body at a time when it is embarking on a major expansion plan.
Alkomed's workforce will be increased from 450 to 600 within a month, said contracts manager Steve C Smith.
Thirty per cent of the workforce are Bahrainis and about 50 Bahrainis are currently placed under an on-the-job training programme, he told the GDN.
Alkomed, one of Bahrain's leading electro-mechanical contractors, has been working on the international quality management system since May last year, said Mr Smith.
