BD22m highway work under way.

The project comprises the construction of 27 kilometres of dual two-lane arterial highway and associated junctions, from the Hawar Highway near Askar to the Durrat Al Bahrain development near Ras Al Barr.
The Works and Housing Ministry's roads directorate has engaged local consultants Ismail Khonji Associates, in association with international consultants High-Point Rendel, to design the highway.
The estimated project cost, including the five grade-separated interchanges, is BD22m, for a construction period of 24 months, said Works and Housing Ministry Under-Secretary Nayef Al Kalali.
Tender documentation is being prepared in readiness to invite tenders as soon as the necessary procedures are complete, he told the GDN.
Currently, the consultant is undertaking the pre-qualification exercise whereby suitable GCC contractors are selected for invitation to tender for the works.
