London UK, 7th March 2003 Almost two thirds of public sector finance managers believe problems with central government funding have caused recent large council tax increases, according to this months Reed Accountancy 'Public Inquiry' in association with Public Finance.

169 public sector finance managers were interviewed for the survey which looked at the issue of the recently announced large council tax rises in the south of England. 63% of respondents thought large council tax increases reflected problems with central government funding, rather than poor budgeting by local authorities.
