M2 PRESSWIRE-6 March 2003-BASF: New wall plugs from fischer made of Ultramid from BASF(C)1994-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
RDATE:03062003
The plastic wall plug must be the simplest and commonest method of anchoring a fixture to concrete and masonry. The latest products from fixing systems specialist fischer (Waldachtal, Germany) are their SXS long-shaft and UX wall plugs, both made from Ultramid B3L, a nylon 6 from BASF.
fischers SXS plug is the first of its type to obtain official approval from the Deutsches Institut fur Bautechnik (technical building approvals institute) for attaching objects to cracked concrete substratesan area in which previously only steel anchors were permitted. This means the plug can now be used to retain heavy objects such as awnings, guard rails, gates, garage doors and large wall-cladding elements. The new SXS plug works in conjunction with fishers patented CO-NA screw.
As the axial load on the fixture increases, the screws special conical thread geometry forces the nylon plug tighter against the wall of the borein other words, the harder one tries to pull out the fixture, the more tenacious the grip becomes. If the bore hole happens to be cracked, the outward radial force on the plug is still maintained.
