The Roman Catholic Church yesterday welcomed efforts by the government to spearhead an extensive campaign to promote natural family planning (NFP) methods.

Former Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president and Lingayen, Dagupan Archbishop Oscar V. Cruz said the government's initiative is welcome news to the Catholic Church.

"Definitely this is a good news for us. In fact, in Pangasinan, I have coordinated with the governor and the regional director of the Commission on Population (Popcom) to go natural family planning since last year," Mr. Cruz …
