Realising the vast potential that could be generated from the revolution and advancement of Information Communication Technology (ICT), especially in today's globalised environment, Brunei Darussalam is increasingly promoting ICT among the people particularly the young generation.

In view of this, back in 1996, the Ministry of Education in collaboration with Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) as the main sponsor agreed to organise an ICT-oriented event called INFORAMA.

This is another manifestation of BSP's drive to assist in the nation-building process particularly to help promote the advancement of Information Communication Technology (ICT) among students.

The eighth INFORAMA will be officially launched by Awg Hj Abd Ghani bin Omar, the Acting Information Communication Technology Director at the Ministry of Education today at the SMJA Secondary School in the capital. Also in attendance will be representatives from BSP led by Haji Mohd Zaini Haji Awg Omar, Head of HR Relations and Services at BSP.

Education is always key in BSP's social investment. Therefore, BSP is once again sponsoring INFORAMA in its efforts to educate and promote the use of ICT among the people.

The three main objectives of INFORAMA are designed, firstly, to create an awareness for students and the public about ICT use, secondly, to make students aware of ICT usage in the community and issues involved with computer technology and finally, to introduce computer usage, electronic communication and systems operation as tools for information management.
